SOPA and why we don’t support it
Today is the day designated by many to protest the SOPA bill which supports what we believe at SPE to be harmful legislation for the freedom of millions who use and access the internet daily. The goal of SOPA is to protect copyright laws and to provide compensation for those that create the media we enjoy each and every day such as music, video and film. The concept of compensating those that create is one we believe in, however to limit content because a way to compensate those that have created music, video and film has not been realized is not, and that is what SOPA is all about.
Copyright laws have not been seriously reviewed in over 10 years and over that period of time much has changed in the way we create and share information, especially on the web. Creating a bill that limits content is never a good idea, however creating a bill that compensates those that deserve it is long over due. Unfortunately a portion of the entertainment industry has decided to take matters into their own hands at the risk of completely changing the landscape for everyone so that they can make more money. We don’t agree and if you would like to join us you can by visiting Electronic Frontier Foundation. We hope all of our readers will join in the fight to protect our basic rights from those that support SOPA.

The music and movie industry suck. Why would I support them when they put out the same recycled, retarding, uninteresting music/movies that only idiots like?
